Quincy Plastic Surgeon - Dr. Moss

Restylane® has been approved by for use in the United States for a few years. Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane® is also injected into the lips to make them have a fuller appearance. Used in Europe and Canada for nearly a decade, it appears that it is both longer lasting than other materials and causes less hypersensitivity reactions. Restylane®, a naturally occurring biodegradable polysaccharide, is a hyaluronic acid produced by fermentation and metabolized by the body. Restylane® is used in the lower face, particularly around the mouth, cheeks and lips. Restylane® requires no prior skin testing and lasts on average 6 months or longer.

Since Restylane® has no lidocaine anesthetic in the product itself Dr. Moss provides all patients with a "dental block" of a novacaine like product (Septocaine®) to reduce or eliminate any discomfort during the injection of Restylane®. This is included in the price of your Restylane® treatment.

Restylane® can cause some bruising at the site of the injections. While this bruising is usually minor, patients need to be prepared for it and should therefore not schedule treatments within a week of "important events". Makeup will usually help cover-up mild bruising. In order to minimize bruising patients should not take aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, Vitamin E, or St. John's Wort for 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Dr. Moss always uses the larger 1.0 ml syringe of either product. Dr. Moss charges $600 for a 1.0 ml syringe. Dr. Moss usually injects only one syringe during a patient's first treatment of Restylane® and/or Perlane®, although he will inject more than one syringe if a patient requests so. He then has a patient come back for additional injections if the patient wants further correction. If a patient has two 1.0 ml syringes of Restylane® and/or Perlane® injected at the same visit a discounted price of $1100 is charged. Dr. Moss's staff would be happy to provide you with any pricing information over the phone. Dr. Moss will provide a patient with a consultation at no charge if the patient elects to have her/his treatment with Restylane® and/or Perlane® during the initial consultation. If a patient elects to have her/his consultation on Restylane® and Perlane® without receiving a treatment during the consultation visit then the charge for the consultation is $75.
